CIEGL Visual Aids: Advice to Speakers

The organizers of the 13th Epigraphic Congress, to be held 2-7 September in Oxford, have promulgated the following essential information for presenters (digested from an email):

• Visual materials may be displayed during presentation either via a PowerPoint presentation or transparencies on a conventional overhead projector; 35mm slides will not be supported
• Printed handouts should be prepared in advance by speakers (200 copies for plenary talks; 30 for thematic sessions)
• Posters concerning epigraphic organizations or events are welcome
• See specific requirements (including advance preparation) below

NOTICE TO SPEAKERS / AVIS AUX CONFERENCIERS

Display equipment / Matériel de projection

We can provide speakers with an overhead projector to display transparencies and/or laptop computer (PC) with Microsoft Powerpoint and data projector. Please note that speakers should NOT bring their own laptop computers to sessions. To help sessions run smoothly, we propose that speakers:

• EITHER send their PowerPoint files (if smaller than 20 Mb) before 2 September by e-mail to jonathan.prag@merton.ox.ac.uk;
• OR submit them on CD, DVD, or USB memory stick/Flashdrive (clearly marked with name and session number) at initial registration (or later to the congress office or the person in charge of the relevant lecture room) for installation on the computer preferably a day (and at least one hour) in advance of the beginning of their session.

Nous pouvons mettre à la disposition des conférenciers un rétroprojecteur pour les transparents et/ou un PC portable équipé de Microsoft PowerPoint et d’un projecteur DLP (beamer). Notez s’il vous plaît qu’il n’est pas possible d’utiliser son propre ordinateur portable lors des présentations. Afin de faciliter une bonne gestion des séances, nous souhaitons que les conférenciers:

• OU BIEN envoient leurs présentations PowerPoint (documents d’une taille inférieure à 20 Mb) avant le 2 septembre par courrier électronique à jonathan.prag@merton.ox.ac.uk;
• OU ALORS remettent un CD, un DVD ou une clé USB (clairement étiqueté, comprenant le nom du conférencier et le numéro de la séance) lors de l’enregistrement au congrès, ou plus tard au bureau du congrès, ou encore au responsable de la salle de leur conférence, de préférence un jour (et au moins une heure) avant leur présentation.

Afin que nous puissions vous garantir la disponibilité du matériel dont vous avez besoin pour votre présentation, veuillez s’il vous plaît insérer un X là où il convient et renvoyez ce formulaire. Merci.

NB:

We regret that we shall not normally be able to provide a traditional slide projector and advise that speakers have traditional slides scanned so that they can be incorporated in a PowerPoint slide show.

Nous sommes malheureusement dans l’impossibilité de mettre à disposition un projecteur de diapositives traditionnelles. Nous conseillons aux conférenciers de numériser leurs diapositives et de les incorporer dans une présentation PowerPoint.

Handouts / Photocopies

Where speakers wish to use handouts, we advise them to produce about 200 copies for plenary lectures and 30 copies for thematic panel sessions.

Nous conseillons aux conférenciers qui souhaiteraient distribuer des photocopies de prévoir environ 200 copies pour les séances plénières et 30 copies pour les séances thématiques.

Advertising posters / Affiches

If congress delegates have any posters advertising their own epigraphic institutions, or any recent or forthcoming epigraphic events, please bring them with you for display in the atrium and corridors space of the Examination Schools. Thank you.

Les congressistes qui le souhaitent peuvent exposer des affiches relatives à leur propre institution ou à des activités récentes ou à venir dans le domaine de l’épigraphie dans l’atrium et les couloirs des Examination Schools. Merci.
