Eidenow: Oracles, Curses and Risk Among the Ancient Greeks

A very promising new title just spotted in the OUP catalogue:

Esther Eidinow

Oracles, Curses, and Risk Among the Ancient Greeks.

ISBN 978-0-19-927778-0.

Pp. 480.

£80.00 (hardback).

I haven’t had a chance to look at this yet, but according the the press release it includes, in addition to a detailed study of magical practices and the mentality of risk, a catalogue of oracle tablets from Dodona and of 159 curse tablets discussed. (We can only hope that OUP get around to releasing a paperback!)

One Response to Eidenow: Oracles, Curses and Risk Among the Ancient Greeks
